Prof Yuri Bilu will speak on the recent sensational proof, by Vesselin Dimitrov, of the Schinzel-Zassenhaus conjecture: if a is a complex algebraic integer of degree d, not a root of unity, then

|a| > 1+c/d,

where c is an absolute constant. Here |a| is the "house" of a, the maximum of absolute values of its conjugates over Q.
