A study on measures of total and quantum correlations

Shrobona Bagchi

Quantification and characterization of total and quantum correlations are
two important aspects of research in quantum information science. In this
vein, the entanglement of purification and generalized geometric measure
were introduced as a measures of total and genuine multipartite
correlation respectively. For proper characterization of these measures,
we study their various important properties. In the first part of the
talk, I present our results on the lower bound, exact values, monogamy,
and additivity properties of entanglement of purification. The
implications of these new findings on the quantum advantage of dense
coding are then briefly discussed. In the second part of the talk, I
present results on the quantification of the generalized geometric
measure. Here, we show that, by using some symmetry properties of quantum
states, we are able to calculate its value by simplifying the optimization
procedure for certain classes of mixed states. Comparison of our results
with those for the geometric measure is also presented.
