An Invitation to Open, Online Courses

The National Programme on Technology Enabled Learning (NPTEL) is a
project of the IITs and IISc funded by the Ministry of HRD, Govt of
India. Since 2003, NPTEL has embarked on a mission to create online
course content for all major engineering and science disciplines with
the main portal nptel.ac.in containing more than 875 courses.

From March 2014, through the portal onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in
NPTEL has been offering open, online courses to students mostly from
colleges in India. More than 50 courses have been offered so far, and
this talk will recount this experience of creating and running open,
online courses with certification in the Indian context.
