Tame class field theory

Recall that the aim of the global class field theory (GCFT) is to
describe the abelian extensions of a global field using a suitable idele
class group. Using GCFT, we can also describe the idele class group for the
tamely ramified \'etale extensions of a smooth quasi-projective curve over a
finite field. In this talk, we will discuss the idele class group for the
tamely ramified \'etale extensions of a smooth quasi-projective variety over
a local field. The talk will be based on joint work with A. Krishna and J.
Rathore.
