Some polynomial encounters

The speaker will introduce us to some of his favourite topics and problems regarding polynomials. These may be treated from an algebraic as well as an analytic or numerical point of view. Each view yields challenging problems for the future.
We will be focusing especially on questions of root approximations, strictly iterative algorithms, a priori root-bounds, questions of stability esp. interval stability as well as root distribution on a line and coefficient characterizations for that. We will mention some open problems as well as recent findings concerning open problems of Csordas et al.
