Dynamical freezing and Floquet phase transitions in periodically driven quantum many-particle systems

The dynamics of quantum many-particle systems under periodic driving showcase a variety of rich phenomena. In this talk, I will discuss about a particular phenomenon known as dynamical freezing. When driven periodically, certain many-particle systems respond nonmonotonically to variations in the driving parameters. Remarkably, such systems get almost completely locked into the initial state for certain combinations of the driving parameters. Previously, in the context of integrable systems, this was observed in two-band models. In this talk, I will explore the possibility of dynamical freezing in integrable systems with more bands, particularly via a bilayer graphene (two-dimensional) . In this system dynamical freezing occurs only when there is a bias in the driving, i.e., when the driving amplitude does not integrate to zero over a cycle. Furthermore, I will also talk about the relationship between dynamical freezing and Floquet phase transitions in a periodically driven system via the periodically driven Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model.
