Dark Sectors from strongly coupled theories

Sonali Verma

ULB, Brussels

In this talk (based on arxiv:2211.13253 and a work in progress), I will consider two complementary scenarios for extending the Standard Model (SM) motivated by the dark matter/dark sector problem. The first part of the talk extends the SM with a putative new sector which is SM-neutral and light. I will talk about how probing such sectors directly in their scale-invariant regime allows us to construct a model-agnostic framework. I will further explain how such dark sectors can give phenomenological signatures in future neutrino oscillation experiments.

In the second part of the talk, I will consider extending both the SM matter and SM gauge group with a new strong force called dark colour. Vector-like fermions charged under dark color are added which can give a composite baryon - a dark matter candidate with mass close to 100 TeV. I will focus on how such theories can have an ultraviolet completion in unified SU(5) theories.
