Higher order corrections and Resummation in perturbative QCD

The standard model of particle physics has been remarkably successful in
describing the physics of elementary particles and it is perhaps the most
celebrated scientific theory of all time.
The precision studies at the hadron colliders facilitate crucial tests of
the consistency of the SM and any significant deviation can hint towards
new physics beyond SM.
As the precision of measurements of observables at the colliders improves,
the theoretical side is required to deliver equally accurate predictions
within the framework of SM or beyond. In upgrading the precision of
theoretical predictions for the observables, higher-order radiative
corrections in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) as well as in electro-weak
theory play an important role. This is the context where my Ph.D. thesis,
for which this is a pre-synopsis submission talk arises. The main goal of
this thesis is to compute the higher-order QCD corrections for some of the
important processes at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) using the methods of
perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD). The formalisms of these
computations mainly fall into two areas namely fixed-order and resummation
frameworks and have been achieved by using state-of-the-art modern
techniques and results.
