Hydrodynamics of run and tumble particles

The hydrodynamics of lattice gases has been an increasingly important field in recent years, but the scope of nontrivial results is not large. A system which falls outside this scope is run and tumble particles (RTPs) on a lattice. RTPs are particles with a vector attached to them which specifies their movement direction and speed, and the vector itself changes direction at a given rate, known as the tumble rate. I will derive the nonequilibrium steady state of the model and show that a different procedure is needed to derive the hydrodynamic coefficients. I will talk about the implications of our results for general lattice gas hydrodynamics.
