Universal phenomena at the movie box-office: Power-law decay and log-normal distribution from an agent-based model

Physical concepts and mathematical tools from statistical physics, provide a framework to model the dynamics of a given system, provided we identify certain dominant features that govern its aggregate behavior. Using agent-based models we explain the trends observed in the time series data of movie performance and other macroscopic trends observed in Box-Office revenue collection data.
