Quantum state estimation using weak measurements

Debmalya Das

HRI--Allahabad

The possibility of quantum state estimation using weak measurements will be explored. In a weak measurement, the disturbance caused to a state is small. This can be utilized to reuse the state for a subsequent measurement. Schemes based on this idea of state recycling with qubits and Gaussian states will be presented. It will be shown that under certain circumstances, these recipes can outperform schemes using projective measurements. The role of ensemble size, playing an important role in the method, will also be discussed.
