Non-equilibrium dynamics of inhomogeneous fluids

Sutapa Roy

Max-Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Stuttgart, Germany

Inhomogeneous fluids are interesting due to the inherent presence of interfaces and they give rise to a plethora of phenomena which cannot be observed in bulk. Typical examples include confined liquids where the presence of surfaces not only changes their static properties compared to in the bulk but also the dynamics. In this context, results from molecular dynamics simulations and analytical theory will be presented on the non-equilibrium dynamics of a system of colloidal particles suspended in a binary solvent.
