The top and Higgs windows onto new physics

Fabio Maltoni

Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium

The top quark and the Higgs boson are the heaviest elementary particles of
the SM of the fundamental interactions and the latest to be discovered. A
precise knowledge of their properties is one of the main goals of the
physics programme of the present and future colliders. I will discuss the
potential of the Higgs and the top quark in the exploration of new physics
scenarios by studying their interactions and interpreting the results via
an effective field theory.
