Dynamic alterations in the local and global organisation of chromatin serve as key regulators of genomic function in eukaryotes. Spatio temporal regulation of chromatin structure is exercised by chromatin remodelling machinery, histone variants and histone tails which are vital end points in a number of transcription-related signal transduction pathways in the nucleus. The talk will cover a new signalling cascade evoked by perturbation of a core histones in the nucleus and the molecular pathways that lead to apoptogenic activity triggered by a linker histone relocation. The talk will also focus on our attempts to understand the electrostatic mechanisms that govern individual nucleosomes through a modelling based approach.
