Waves in the solar atmosphere

The Sun's outer coronal layers are much hotter than the solar surface. Dynamics of the solar atmosphere is often governed by the presence of magnetic waves. Waves provide a diagnostic tool for the study of the atmosphere. I will provide an overview on how a combination of theory and observations help us to understand and quantify magnetic wave heating of the solar atmosphere. Recent advancement in space observations and India’s future planned efforts for the study of waves in the corona will be highlighted.
