Collective motion of self-propelled particles: A density functional approach

Arnab Saha

University of Pune

Dynamical density functional theory is successfully used in driven but passive Brownian systems. Recently it has also been used to describe the dynamics of 'dry' (i.e. no considerable hydrodynamic interaction) self-propelled Brownian particles. Here we couple the density functional approach with far-field hydrodynamics and apply the theory to describe the dynamics of simple, soft micro-swimmers within a confinement.
