Giambelli's identity using the LGV lemma

Giambelli's identity reduces the calculation of a general Schur polynomial to the calculation of Schur polynomials for partitions that are hooks.

We will show how this identity can be obtained from the Linstrom-Gessel-Viennot lemma (whose statement and proof will also be explained in the talk).
