Bunching of extreme events on network

Vimal Kishore

We all are familiar with rare events like floods, traffic jams, financial slowdown etc. which have adverse effect on us, both socially and financially. Often such extreme events strike in clusters i.e. multiple events get localized within a short time interval. To get a hold on these extreme events and minimize their consequences one would like to understand the mechanism behind it. With this motivation we employ multiple random walkers and study extreme events on network. I will argue that the network structure plays a significant role in the bunching of extreme events. I will also quantify the bunching of extreme events using various characterization measures.
