Impacting drug development through BioSimulation, Case Studies & Career Opportunities for Computational Biologists
Rukmini Kumar
Chief Scientist and Co-Founder, Vantage Research
Drug Discovery & Development are complex and there is opportunity for impact by using integrative simulation approaches. Rukmini Kumar, Chief Scientist at Vantage Research will talk about how drug development works today, case studies using simulation approaches with real-world impact and potential career trajectories and opportunities to work in high-impact science outside academia.
About the speaker:
Rukmini Kumar started working on Model-Based Drug Development, specifically mechanistic physiological modelling during her PhD. Her work contributed to several scientific publications as well as to the founding of a modelling company, Immunetrics. She spent 7+ years working with Entelos, a pioneer company in predictive bio-simulation. Rukmini co-founded Vantage Research in 2013 and has since served as its Chief Scientist. Rukmini leads multi-disciplinary teams in developing mechanistic models of Pharmacokinetics & Pharmacodynamics to simulate novel drugs and trial designs to enable better decision making. She has worked with many of the major pharmaceutical companies, including Eli Lilly, Merck, Genentech, Moderna, Pfizer as well as a number of biotechs & the Gates Foundation. She has worked in several disease areas such as diabetes, oncology, auto-immune diseases, liver toxicity and sepsis.
