Higher-order relativistic dissipative hydrodynamics from kinetic theory

I shall discuss the formulation of far-from-equilibrium relativistic dissipative hydrodynamics using the framework of kinetic theory. By studying the effects of higher-order viscous corrections in flow profiles relevant for ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions, the domain of applicability of hydrodynamics will be re-explored. A new ‘maximum-entropy’ kinetic prescription for conversion of hydrodynamic fields to particles at the freeze-out stage of heavy-ion collisions will be presented.
