The thermodynamical properties of the random networks in 2D-silica glass

Two-dimensional silica presents an opportunity to study the atomistic coordinates of a silica glass with the help of STM. The random distribution of the ringsizes in the glass phase of this material can be modelled with a Yukawa type force-field. Interestingly, the adjacent silica rings on the 2D plane show significant correlations among themselves, which greatly affect their thermodynamical properties. In general, the ring-energies follow a Boltzmann behaviour, albeit with different temperature factors.
