Higgs bundles on ruled surfaces and Nef and Pseudoeffective cones of certain projective varieties

In the first part of this talk, we will discuss about the (semi)stability of the pullback of an (semi)stable Higgs bundle under the ruling of a ruled surface. In the second part, we will consider the fibre product of two ruled surfaces over the same base curve, and will discuss about the nef and pseudoeffective cones of these fibre products. This is a Thesis defense talk.
