Lecture(s) on Free Energy

I will review the computation of free energy (F) of 3-dimensional *N*=3
supersymmetric theories. Specifically, we will start from a discussion of
localizing 3-dimensional susy gauge theories on a 3-sphere to compute their
partition functions (Z). We will specialize to quiver gauge theories, which
have well-known gravity duals. We will then take the large N limit (N is
the rank of gauge group) of F=-ln(Z) to get an expression with the
well-known N^{3/2} scaling and a “volume” factor, which we calculated just
for fun in the previous lecture(s). [arXiv:1211.1388]
