Bouncing universe in higher dimensions : Models inspired by Loop Quantum Cosmology (I)

In Einstein's theory, our (3 + 1) dimensional universe has a big bang
singularity when it shrinks to zero size in the past. Loop Quantum
Cosmology (LQC) makes such a universe bounce back before reaching zero
size. In this way, the evolution becomes non singular.

We generalise the effective equations of LQC which describe these non
singular evolutions. Our generalisation applies to higher dimensional
universe also. Now, besides a bounce, several other types of non
singular evolution also become possible.

In this first talk, we will set up the generalisation. In the second
talk, we will describe a few types of non singular evolutions.
