Workshop on

SOLID STATE PHYSICS TO MATERIALS SCIENCE

August 19 – 21, 2009, Department of Physics, Pondicherry University

Information for participants

The workshop is organised by the UGC-DAE Centre for Scientific Research (UGC-DAE CSR), Indore, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc) and the Department of Physics, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry.

Workshop venue: The workshop activities will be held in the Deaprtment of Physics, Pondicherry University.

Accommodation: All participants would be provided sharing accommodation in the university guest house located in the Pondicherry University Convention Hall cum Guest House campus. Guest house rooms would be avilable from the evening of 18th to 22nd morning. Participants may inform the local organisers (given below) of their arrival/departure schedule.

Reaching Guest House: The guest house is situated just opposite the Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) along East Coast Road. It is about 12 kms from the pondicherry bus stand or railway station. (Note the distance between Railway sation and bus stand is about 2 kms.) All the local buses destined to Kalapet (Marakkanam as well) have stopping at the PEC. By auto it may be (expensively!) in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 150 (try your luck!).

Poster Presentation: A space of 1m x 1m is available for poster. Participants can prepare their poster accordingly. Ahead of the poster session, you will have to make a one miniute (60 seconds) presentation to draw attention of the audience including experts to the central theme of your work.

Visit to IGCAR: Carry your id card issued by your institution. If you have not one, get a letter from your HOD or competent authority. This is required while visting IGCAR, Kalpakkam.

Trvael support: Your travel to attend the workshop will be supported by us. The travel support for round trip is limited to sleeper class train fare or bus fare by the shortest route. Please produce the ticket to claim the travel expenditure.
