Guidelines for Madras university PhD. RegistrationHi, welcome. This page is intented to help research scholars to know the steps need to be taken in registration of PhD Degree in Madras University. Here, I assume that you have a Masters in the related subject and permission from your institute to register. This Link will take you to the madras university phd advertisement, where you can get some extra information. A copy of it may be found here. First PhaseThe first thing to do is to get an application form to get the permission to register from the university. With that you have to apply for another form for registration. You need to give a covering application letter on a white sheet with request in order to get the forms for application and sign it. These application form costs may increase from time time but when I applied it was Rs 200/- and Rs 60/- resp. You can get a single Demand Draft payable to "The Registrar", "Madras University" for the total amount (Rs 260/-). There are only four months in a year when you can get this form (and apply). Entitre months of March, June, September and December the form is available. The submission deadlins are 2nd April, 1st July, 1st October, and 1st January. IMSc students should submit to the institute office on or before the deadline. Once you get the form fill them appropriately and include the necessory copies of certificates including copies of SSLC, 12th, Batchalers and Masters Degree Certificate and Mark list for Masters and above. For IMSc students minutes of the selection committe meeting stating that you have been selected for doing research plus an addressing letter from your guide stating his willingness to guide you with list of the enclosives, addressed to the registrar, University of Madras forwarded by the director and A copy of the recognition letter of your guide are needed to be enclosed. Second PhaseWait for communication from university :). Remind the administrative people to check the status of your application. You might get letter giving permission to register if your course is already recognised (fortunate) or a letter saying your course is not heard of and you should get it recognized. However in BOTH the cases you have to get the course recognition form the university(Rs 20/- by cash). Fill it out accordingly and submit. If you have permission to register, you can submit the application for registration. Otherwise wait for further communication from university. Third PhaseOnce you get the permission letter, you have to apply with in a month of the date of communication for the registration of PhD. You have to write the Methodology examination within an year from the date of registration. | |||||||||
