  1. Chennai city has a number of ATMs that are linked to the Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard and Maestro networks. ATM cards should work without any problem. The nearest ATMs to the conference venue are about 1 km away. However, ATMs are restricted to Chennai and a few other cities in south India. There are much fewer ATMs (or none) in smaller places around Chennai.

  2. Most big shops and restaurants in Chennai take credit cards. In some shops, there is a minimum limit on the bill for paying by credit card, usually Rs 200-250.

  3. Banks work Mon-Sat, with Saturday being a half day. Typical banking hours are 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
