The Institute of Mathematical Sciences invites applications from highly motivated teachers for the Refresher Programme in Physics.
The refresher programme is one of a series of such courses conducted by IMSc. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the purposes of career advancement.
The courses (including both lectures and tutorials) are usually taught by resource persons from IMSc/IIT/Madras Univ.
The duration of the course is for 3 weeks from May 26th to June 15th 2005.
College teachers interested in a new perspective on select areas in Physics at the post-graduate level, as well as new material surveying the state-of-the-art research in that field, are encouraged to apply. At least 75% of the course contents will be taken from the UGC model curriculum published in 2001.

Special Theory of Relativity
Presentations: Participants will have an opportunity to make presentations of their recent work in areas of interest to them. Such presentations are intended as a means to generate discussions/collaborations amongst participants as well as with resource persons at the Institute.
Selected participants will be reimbursed return fare by train (2-tier A/C) from their place of work to Chennai. Participants from outside Chennai will be provided free accomodation at the Institute Guest House. Local hospitality will be extended to all those selected.
