With increasing access to research and scholarly writings, there are several challenges that budding scholars face in carrying out research and assignment writing ethically. While assignments in academic curriculum are expected the ability of a student/author to synthesize available literature, there are ethical challenges that they face in preparing these assignments and also in arriving at a research problem. Are we aware of the implications of ethical oversight when conducting research and before making our research available to the public without scrutinizing it for piracy? How do we avoid being branded as to have indulged in plagiarism? The Information and Communication Technology [ICT], especially Internet, revolution has dramatically multiplied the scope and scale of plagiarism. This presentation would attempt to highlight some of the crucial issues and challenges that the budding researchers and their evaluators face in modern times.
