The conference takes place in The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai. The conference sessions and the invited talks will be in the Ramanujan Auditorium. The map is shown below. For directions on how to reach IMSc, please visit the IMSc page here.

Reaching Chennai

  • By air

Chennai International Airport (IATA Code: MAA), comprising of Anna International terminal and Kamaraj Domestic terminal, is located 15km from the city center and the easiest way to reach your destination is to take a pre-paid taxi from the airport. You have to give the address of your destination and pay the taxi fare inside the terminal. A map of one of the routes from the airport to IMSc can be found here.

  • By train

Participants who arrive at Chennai Central railway station could avail a pre-paid taxi or pre-paid autorickshaw service (a map of the route is available here). But the cheapest way is to take a train at Park Town suburban station all the way to Indira Nagar suburban station, cross the overbridge spanning Rajiv Gandhi Salai and walk to IMSc. Here are the train schedules for Monday through Saturday and Sunday.

  • By Road

Tamil Nadu is well connected by state roads and national highways. It has one of the most affordable public transport systems (TNSTC). Several private players also operate buses between important cities. It is also easy to rent a car or taxi for a comfortable journey. Here is a list of call-taxi services in Chennai, with contact information.

More information on how to reach Chennai can be obtained from the Wikitravel page on Chennai.

A computer room will be reserved for CMSC 2014 participants, with a few terminals with guest logins. Further the conference hall itself and several lounges are wi-fi zones, where participants can freely access the Internet. Instructions on how to access the wi-fi will be put up on the notice board outside the Ramanujan Auditorium.

Another point to be noted is about power plugs and sockets. The European 2-pin plugs usually work but the UK/USA/Japan 2-pin plugs (flat pins) will not work, so converters are necessary. A conventional 3-pin plug used in India looks like this.

The IMSc library will be open to the conference participants from 9 am to 6 pm on each day. Borrowing of books is not allowed, but participants are free to use the reprographic facilities in the library, by placing their requests with a student volunteer before 3 pm each day. The material will be made available to the participants the next day morning.

Those requesting grants will be provided shared accommodation in guest house/hostel rooms within a few kilometres of IMSc. Some more shared guest house/hostel accommodation is available, which participants can pay for. Registered participants who wish to stay in these rooms can write to cmsc2014@imsc.res.in specifying arrival and departure dates.
