There will be a three weeks workshop on ``Functional Analysis" from 28th June ( arrival Sunday 27th June ) to 16th July ( departure Saturday 17th July ) on the following topics at the basic level:
1. Geometric aspects of Banach Spaces
2. Spectral analysis of self-adjoint operators
3. Distribution Theory
4. Harmonic Analysis
5. Banach algebra
6. C*-algebra
Basic prerequisite: Basic set theory and topology, Measure theory and Complex Analysis.
Target audience: Students those who have at least completed 1st year MSc in Mathmatics. Interested participants are requested to post a short CV to anilesh@imsc.res.in, parthac@imsc.res.in A recommendation letter is required
for an interested participant who is not in the above category.
Our future plan is to continue this workshop in an advanced level in the coming month Dec 2010 at Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.

1st week:

Spectral analysis of self adjoint operators-Krishna Maddaly (IMSC)
2nd week:
Distribution Theory -R. Radha (IITM)
Harmonic Analysis- E K Narayanan (IISC)
Banach Algebra -Partha Sarathi Chakraborty(IMSC)
C*-algebra -Anilesh Mohari(IMSC) & Debasish Goswami(ISI KOLKATA)
3rd week:
We will continue these topics of 1st and 2nd weeks in an advanced level depending on the students participation which will eventually lead to research topics.
