The inadequacy of the Ansatz proposed by De Rújula and Glashow for explaining the meson masses is discussed. The importance of fixing the spin-parity of the abnormal parity states E(1420) and D(1285) for the possible success of SU(4) is emphasized. We also point out some further consequences of the ideas of asymptotic freedom. © 1975 The American Physical Society. |
