dc.description.abstract The motivation of this thesis work lies in the open question raised by Schoenberg, "Which of the properties of polynomial B-SPlines will carry over to more general SPlines?". These are SPlines having minimal support, that is having the smallest number of consecutive unit intervals. The thesis studies the various properties of A cardinal SPlines and obtains a solution for A - Cardinal Spline interpolation problem, with the approach closely following the work of Schoenberg, and using the results of Karlin, on total positivity. Also studies, 'A - Cardinal t perfect SPlines' generalizing the work of Sharma and Tzimbalario. en_US
