Abstract: These lectures were delivered by Niels Bohr Visiting Professor, L.Rosenfeld from NORDITA, Copenhagen, Denmark during 1964. The introduction chapter defines about Resonances, and Theory of Nuclear Interactions. It is of interest to develop a theory of nuclear reactions free from arbitrary features and in which the resonances directly appear as intrinsic properties of the compound system. The objective of this course is essentially to discuss the present theory and some interesting recent contributions on the time dependent approach. The optical model theory is discussed from the present stand point and the inclusion of coulomb effects into the formalism. In Nuclear reactions the concern is with the collision problem between two nuclei, a target which is usually the heavier one and a projectile which can be simply a nucleon or a deuteron or a more complex nucleus. 'Given the nuclear interaction, whether it is possible to obtain the excited energies and the resonance energies' is the fundamental problem. Through the shell model, partial success could be achieved, and could be extremely successful only for low energy excited states. These lectures discuss, Resonance, 'Elastic scattering by a fixed potential, 'Screened couloumb Effect', 'Dispersion relations and time directedness', 'Neutral particle reactions', 'Wave functions', 'Properties of the collision matrix, and its expansions', 'Scattering process', 'Asymptotic and Transient behaviour of Wave-Packet'.
