From compact groups to compact quantum groups

The purpose of this talk is to give an introduction to theory of
Compact Quantum Groups, initiated by Woronowicz in a series of three seminal
papers in the late 80's. We will illustrate striking similarities and even
more striking dissimilarities of this theory with the classical theory of
compact groups, and will end with some interesting closed and open
questions.
