Theoretical Computer Science: Selected candidates.

Prospective Ph. D students in Theoretical Computer Science write the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST). (Scores for Part A of the examination are now available at the website.) For more information on the JEST in TCS, and the TCS group at IMSc, click here.

Physics: Selected Candidates .

Prospective students usually write the Joint Entrance Screening Test(JEST). Students also have the option of using the results of the UGC-CSIR NET JRF or GATE exam. For information related to direct application using UGC-CSIR NET JRF or GATE scores, click here. For JEST qualified students, the shortlisted candidates will be announced by April beginning. No separate application is necessary: all shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews to IMSc.

The JEST Examination

• This test is administered jointly by 24 Indian institutes and is held at many centres all over the country, typically in February.
• This time, the test was held on February 21, 2010.
• Since JEST is used by all participating institutes in common to assess candidates, you also have the option of applying to any of them.
